Farpoint and Novacon, which raised money for their charities (Julien Fleming Fund, MPT Hospital, Easter Seals) . She has spearheaded the effort to collect new and used clothes for the area foster kidsShe has worked with the Embry Rucker and a Homeless Shelter (part of Reston Interfaith) to donate the toiletry items

Commodore Cynthia Walter – USS Asgard – This officer has repeatedly demonstrated extreme dedication, volunteerism and involvement as a Starship crewmember and member of STARFLEET Region One.

 

Captain Gregory Franklin – USS Reprisal - has performed many acts of generosity to his fellow man. He has been instrumental in the chapter’s OCP drive, canned food drive, and Toys-for-Tots Program. He started a coat drive of the needy in the Kingsport area. He also voluntarily gives a CPR course for both the community and the crew.

 

Ensign Gay Blair – USS Reprisal - has been an inspiration to her crewmates by the following actions:helping tp collect and donate 5 coats to the clothing drive held for the needy, participating in the Toy-for-Tots program by collecting and donating toys, the OCP, collecting and donating school supplies for needy children, donating her time to the needy in her community.

 

1st Lieutenant Dennis Relyea – USS Reprisal - has been an inspiration to his crewmates by the following actions:helping tp collect and donate 2 coats to the clothing drive held for the needy, participating in the Toy-for-Tots program by collecting and donating toys, the OCP, collecting and donating school supplies for needy children, donating her time to the needy in his community.

 

Linda Steelman – USS Maat - for Tireless dedication and commitments as WHRO volunteer coordinator, OCP coordinator, SCPA, food drive and many more things.

 

Cmdr. Adelyn Upp – USS Asgard - for hard work and dedication to the many charity functions of the USS Asgard including the Operation Feed Project, MS Walk-A-Thon, United Nations Association International Festival, and Toys-for-Tots.

 

Lt. Cmdr Susan Goodwin– Shuttle Albemarle - for her hard word and dedication as the Shuttle Albemarle OPC director.

 

Ensign Minnie Chappell – Shuttle Albemarle - for the hard word and dedication to the many charity functions of the shuttle including Open Door Food Bank and the OCP.

 

Cmdr Eric J Davis – USS Asgard - participated in a local television station's food drive, and he helped collect food and pack it. Also participated in the Toys-for-Toys drive and donated clothing to a local charity. He also participated in the MS Walk-a-Thon.

 

Lieutenant Colonel Michael Browne – USS Questar - Colonel Browne donated school supplies for the Operation Eagle Project, and was active in the Chapter's "Adopt a Whale" project, and a local nature observatory. He also donated food to a local charity and participated in the Toys-for-Tots campaign with over $100 in toys.

 

Commander Debbie Ham – USS Hornet - Cmdr Ham is a contributor to the local food bank, a blood donor to the Red Cross, and has participated in Samaritan's Purse Shoebox campaign, Starfleet stampede, and the OCP.

 

Commander Julianna Tanski – USS Maat - Cmdr Tanski is the Maat's SPCA coordinator, and she also participates in the following activities: Senior Services of SE Virginia, the local food bank, aluminum can collections, the Chapter's Casino Night, Starfleet Stampede, and the OCP.

 

Captain Mary Ann Winsley – USS Jamestown - Capt Winsley donated her time and goods to the following charities: Virginia Air and Space Center, American Red Cross Blood Drive, the OCP, the American Cancer Society, the American Diabetes Association, March of Dimes, Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters, and a battered woman's shelter.

 

Commander Pamela Bryant – USS Columbus - Cmdr Bryant is the coordinator of the Chapter's food drive, and she organized and led the Talaxian cook off to raise more funds for the food drive.

 

Commodore Cynthia Walter - USS Asgard - has done several charity functions in 2002. She walked in the Light the Night for Sight Walk-a-thon, she has donated blood for the last two years and has obtained coupons from her fellow employees to send to the Operation Coupon Project.

 

Commander Adelyn Upp - USS Asgard - has been active in 2002 with  several charities. She has collected coupons from fellow workers for the Operation Coupon Project and toys for the Toys For Tots Campaign. She assisted in registration at the MS Walk-a-thon and volunteered at Okterberfest in German Village.

 

Major John Upp - USS Asgard - has participated in many  charities activities in 2002. He volunteered at the Okterberfest in German Village. He has donated item for Toys For Tots Campaign. He worked security for the MS Walk-a-thon and March of Dimes. He has done many of these activities while recovering from an on going medical problem.

 

Colonel Kathlene Harper - USS Asgard - has co-chaired with Lt. Commander Stephenson the Trek Put and Trek Bowl projects. She has assisted the last three years with the Toys For Tots Campaign. She worked at the information table at the MS Walk-a-thon. She has volunteered at the March of Dimes marathon and works on the local food drive.

 

Fleet Captain Gregory Franklin – USS Reprisal - has been heavily involved in various community service projects. He served as chairman of the charities committee, gave over 70 hours of CPR instruction, sponsored the Reprisal's Food bank project, work with the Toys-for-Tots campaign. He participated in operation shoebox.

 

Captain Melinda  Harper - USS Asgard -has worked on several committees to organize charity activities. She assisted with the planning of Trek Bowl. She went to Studio 35 Movie Theater to collect donations for Toys For Tots. She Has worked at the United Nations International Festival. She finds time to do this while she works part-time and is a full time student at Ohio State University.

 

Lt. Commander Chris Stephenson - USS Asgard - is a fine officer. He does his duties our newsletter editor but has found the time to put together two fund raisers. The first fund raiser was Trek Put a minature golf tournament where proceeds went to Dave Thomas Adoption Foundation. Then in the fall he put together Trek Bowl where the proceeds went to Toys For Tots. Both fund raisers were successful.

 

Commander J. Eric Davis - USS Asgard -  has organized a volunteer effort of collecting winter clothing. He has collected winter coats, gloves, hats, long underwear, socks, blankets and boots for adults and children for the last three years. They are donated to a local church for distribution to those who have no warm winter clothes.

 

LTC Dennis Relyea - USS Reprisal - has been involved with the following charities: Helping Hearts donating winter clothing to needy children, donating school supplies to needy children, participating in the Toys-for-Tots program, and in Operation Christmas child were small toys and candy are placed in a shoebox for deserving children.

 

Capt. Thomas B. Heffner - USS Gallifrey - His efforts for community services and charities have been numerous, he can not do enough to help others in need, whether they be the poor community children, homeless families, children hospitals, nursin' home residents, or even givin' lectures, re-enactments, or shows at schools. Cmdr Amy J. Heffner - USS Gallifrey - the many community services she has donated her time and skills to.  She has done such work as makin' and donatin' food to community centers, parties, and the homeless, helpin' out with Bible Study Programs in the community, and organizin' fund raisers for various Gallifrey supported charities.(210403)

 

SCPO Betty J. Heffner - USS Gallifrey - her many sacrifices made in the name of her community and those within who have found themselves in need and less fortunate.She works with the many community centers, pet shops, shelters, animal concerned organizations. She has also rendered assistance to the many families and under-priviledged children she has helped over the years.(210403)

 

Capt. Gary Hollifield, Jr.- Shuttle Hell's Fury - His efforts for community services and charities have been numerous. Most notably has been his assistance to the MDA, Habitat for Humanity, helping at the Senior Activity Senior, helping Meals on Wheels, helping a canned food drive, and many other. This officer serves as a major asset of STARFLEET Region One and demonstrates the best traditions of STARFLEET.(210403)

Lt j.g. Janice Schweikert.- Ronald E. McNair - Janice has been a member of the McNair since 1998. She has worked tirelessly in her efforts for the Easter Seals Buck- a-Cup program as well as bringing coupons to the McNair meetings in support of the OCP program as well as soda can pop tops for the Ronald McDonald House(200502)

 

Rear Admiral Roger H. Scritchfield - USS OHIO - VAdm. Scritchfield answered phones at the local PBS station’s telethons. He helped the community by saving can tabs for the Ronald McDonald House in Cleveland, OH. He’s a member of Skywarn and ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Services), through which he helped report severe weather and helped with other emergencies through radio communications. He also used his radio communications to help in community parades, marathons and bike rallies as a radio operator. He helped give amateur radio tests to the community as a Volunteer Examiner. He collected the coupons we cut to send through the Overseas Coupon Project. If he’s asked to help with something he’s right there to help. (200502)

 

Captain Janice Graham - USS Renegade - Janice Has worked very hard with the Overseas Coupon Project.  She also has worked d with the local IFT chapter here in Youngstown raising money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation as well as the other fund raisers and charity events. She is always ready and willing to lend a hand with any project that comes along.

CRM James E. Heffner  -USS Gallifrey -constantly volunteered to help with each and every project over the last year, many of them being charity events or community service projects.  He has never once failed in doing so or not completed the responsibilities to which he has requested.  He has aided and assisted in various community services of his own free will while bringing with him great assets and ensuring an enjoyable time for all who attended or participated.(200603)

 

CAPT Frank Parker- USS Ronald E. McNair NCC-61809 -Frank helped with the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts in 2005 by helping set up an impromptu concert at a local coffee house. His assistance with the setting up of a recruting table that represented SFI, R1 as well as the McNair was part of our success with that endeavor. This year he is the point of contact for the McNair Christmas visit to the veterans in the nursing home at Dorn VA hospital.(200606)

 

ENS Ree Clark - Since Ree joined the McNair February 15, 2006 she took off running and assumed the Communications Officer position. Soon after she took and passed the OTS course. Ree collects coupons for the OCP Program. Ree also contributed to the success of the recruiting table that the McNair set up at Concarolinas 2006  .(210606)

 

CPO Larry Kirby- USS Ronald E. McNair - Larry is new to the world of SFI but he's jumped in whole heartedly and collected coupons for the OCP program as well as soda can pop tops which we give to the Ronald McDonald House. He donated a DVD, books, and toiletries to the McNair's VA visit to the veterans in the nursing home at Dorn VA hospital. He also serves as our liaison with a local Columba, SC scifi group Starzone as well as the Filking community.  .(200606)

Ensign Susan Cecil - USS Commonwealth - During the 2009 ice storm that hit the county of Madison, city of Richmond, KY that downed power lines and caused a massive power outage to said community, Ensign Susan Cecil took on the task of contacting her neighbors to see if they had alternative heating methods in place and was prepared to render assistance and get them heat. She was also able to convince a neighbor who was on oyxgen to leave her home and seek shelter with a friend until the power could be turned back on. (200903.15)

 

Ensign Ingrid Price - USS Columbus - Collection of soda cans for recycling, yogurt lids for breast cancer and collecting items for boxes being sent overseas to service members as well as her assistance with a school supply drive and for locating books to be given to a preschool.

Commodore Kristine Keller-Williams - USS Arizona NCC-71839- Kris has directed the Adopt A Family for the Arizona for the last 6 or 7 years now. She has collected contributions from the Cleveland Indians, Browns, K-Mart, Wal Mart and numerous other contributors. Margaret Grunwell - USS Appomattox - Even after suffering the loss of her other parent within a year of the first, Margaret still attended the meetings and participated in activities when her health would allow. She is willing to help crewmates get to the meetings, trips to official agencies and grocery runs. When another crewmate lost the use of their vehicle, she lent her second vehicle to them until theirs was repaired. Even though the coupons didn't get sent this past year due to her health and personal issues, in an avalanche of coupons she still worked hundreds of hours trying to get them out. She attended the Region One Summit in May and the USS Jamestown's annual Casino Night in Sept.  T'Harrington - USS Black Elk - Lt. Col. T'Anna Harrington has assisted at the local warehouse in boxing food to go to the community food banks here in Tennessee. She also assists with boxing food at the local food bank on the second Tuesday each month. She puts in at least 12 hours a month. (2001605.14)

 

Commodore Ron Novak- USS Renegade - Commodore Ron Novak is involved with different programs outside the USS Renegade. His Civil War Group puts on a Forgotten Heros program where the go to certain Veterans Graves and give a speech about them and finish it off with a 21 gun salute in uniform. The families are notified so they can be there for the presentation. It takes place on Veteran's Day each year. Ron also helps with the Chapters fundraisers the second Harvest Food Band and the OCP program where we send coupons to the Service men and women coupons at a Naval base in Japan to help them buy the necessities while stationed there we collected $6,216.65 for the year. Ron had also taken over as RDC Director and is looking for the challenge of running the RDC Programs. (201705.04)

Michael Lewis - USS Heimdal - Michael Lewis volunteers for a number of community service programs each year. He still managed to volunteer in many helping ways during the 2020 pandemic. Volunteered with the American Red Cross as a Duty Officer - 70 times Jan through Dec. 2020. (Volunteer Duty Officers are responsible for dispatching Red Cross volunteers to meet with families impacted by home fires and other disasters so they can provide temporary relief such as a safe place to stay, food and clothing). Darlene Harper - USS Columbus - Darlene has continued to run the Columbus Toy Collection that goes to Toys for Tots in honor of her departed husband. This year the chapter, under her guidance collected 555 toys and was featured on a local news broadcast during the donation process.  (202101.17)

James Cecil - USS Commonwealth - Commodore James Cecil, donated several items to the Humane Society Animal League (Madsion County Humane Society) in the city of Richmond, county of Madsion in the state of Kentucky. The items for which he donated to the Humane Society Animal League went to that organization's annual year sale to help pay for veterinary service, pet food and supplies that the organization needs. Admiral Wade Larkin - USS Reprisal - Admiral Larkin’s volunteer work has been outstanding and he was praised for his efforts on behalf of the local chapter of Girls Club Inc. Being the father of four girls and the grandfather of one, he understands the importance of this organization. He helped plan two Golf Tournaments that raised over $10,000 dollars for the local chapter. During this time, he spent over 80 hours total volunteer time. He was responsible for: acquiring donations and sponsors, obtaining supplies. Running errands and providing assistance to players and staff. (202304.22)
